Meet Our Founder – Erkan Yıldız
LL.M, Energy and Natural Resources Law Certified ESRS Sustainability Professional
Erkan Yıldız is the founder and principal consultant of EYG Partners, bringing more than 19 years of senior-level international leadership experience across ESG, sustainability, and strategic communications. His career includes senior management roles at global corporations such as Teck Resources, Canada’s largest diversified mining company, and DP World, a world leader in ports and logistics solutions enabling world trade. Additionally, Erkan has served at director-level positions in leading Turkish conglomerates, including Eczacıbaşı and MNG, where he spearheaded ESG strategies, renewable energy initiatives, and sustainability reporting aligned with global standards such as IFC, EBRD, GRI, and CSRD.
Erkan’s professional journey commenced with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, actively contributing to humanitarian operations and events across Türkiye, Indonesia, Germany, and Croatia. His early commitment to sustainability includes a volunteer internship at the Regional Environment Centre in Hungary in 2008, focusing on climate change mitigation.
Academically distinguished, Erkan holds bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Public Relations and earned his Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Energy and Natural Resources Law from the University of East London’s Royal Docks School of Business and Law with distinction. His master’s thesis critically examined the International Finance Corporation’s (IFC) resettlement guidelines for artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM), focusing on indigenous rights and sustainable development.
Throughout his career, Erkan has successfully led complex social performance and resettlement programs, notably managing a US$25.3 million IFC-compliant Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) at the Australian West African Resources’ Kiaka Gold Mine Project in Burkina Faso, positively impacting over 3,900 local residents. His strategic leadership ensured the project met critical timelines and financial objectives, embedding sustainability into core business strategies.
His philosophy centres on the belief that sustainable development and ethical business practices are not simply costs, but strategic investments. By proactively managing environmental, social, and governance risks, companies can avoid significant financial pitfalls such as costly project delays, community resistance, or the loss of critical operational licenses. With a pragmatic, business-minded approach, Erkan is dedicated to helping clients align profitability with sustainability—transforming potential ESG liabilities into real competitive advantages and long-term value.
